Introduction to Proposal Writing

Are you new to proposal writing or want a quick refresher? This class will provide you with an overview of how to write a standard project proposal to a foundation. It will include the fundamental elements of a proposal, the “do’s” and “don’ts” of writing and submitting a proposal, and how to follow up with funders whether the answer is yes or no.

Instructor: Tracy Kaufman, Foundation Center

Tracy Kaufman is the Community Outreach Manager at Foundation Center, where she leads seminars on proposal writing and grantsmanship, and plans public programs on issues relevant to philanthropy and the social sector, tailored towards the needs of growing nonprofits. Tracy also works as a reference librarian in Foundation Center’s New York library, offering personalized guidance for grantseekers looking to build capacity and expand their funding options. She has over a decade of experience working in the nonprofit sector. Previously, Tracy held positions with the Association of American Publishers and the New York Public Library. She earned her degree in Writing Seminars from Johns Hopkins University.
