Aging in Community: Ensuring Health, Stability, Connection & Purpose for an Aging Population Through Supportive Housing Development

This workshop will acquaint participants with the importance of senior supportive housing development in our communities, especially in light of an aging population and the current housing crunch. Participants will come away with an understanding of the current landscape of needs for senior supportive housing, how senior supportive housing is a part of a larger strategy to meet a community’s housing needs and how to develop a project with seniors in mind.

Audience: Senior level management at community development corporations/organizations, real estate development staff, program development and resident services staff

Objectives:

Understand current trends of housing needs for seniors
Understand how a senior housing strategy fits into a community development approach
Understand the considerations for developing and managing a senior supportive housing project

Learn about current funding and opportunities available as well as gaps that need to be filled, including how to work with the healthcare industry and health related philanthropy to ensure both health and housing for seniors
