Align Your Mission to Your Nonprofit Programming

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:  This workshop will take program and front line staff through a series of questions and group activities that will help them design an effective logic model to propel their organization. The focus of this training is to break open your mission statement, look at it, and then empower the staff to identify the resources and talent it will take to execute on all parts of it.

Learning Objectives:

This workshop will help nonprofits align their mission statement with the true cost of executing on it and identify the talent needed to bring it to life.
Creation of an organic logic model that can be revisited and tweaked over time as your organization’s program demands change.
Identify the paid and unpaid talent needed to execute on the mission statement if not already on board within your organization.
Taking a serious look at your program budget and adding in the needed accounting variances depending on increases or decreases in program demand and human capital.
Target audience

Executive directors, board members, managers of small to medium sized nonprofits, organizations entering into or thinking about strategic planning, organizations entering into or thinking about succession planning.

About the Trainer:

Hakim Cunningham is a seasoned meeting facilitator, workforce development practitioner, logistics, and leadership builder. He has nine years of experience as a community organizer, nonprofit office manager, and social justice policy coordinator working for several social impact organizations including grassroots organizations. Hakim’s background in nonprofit organizational development comes from years of training at Boston Workers Alliance. He is the founder of Cunningham Consulting and Innovation, a minority-owned and operated small consulting company.

Hakim saw firsthand some of the harsh realities of poverty and low educational attainment and the way that it could stunt a person‚Äôs development and job opportunities. He has devoted his life to improving the way nonprofits and corporations serve communities of color with a race, equity, and equality lens. He holds a Bachelor‚Äôs of Science in Business Administration majoring in Entrepreneurship from Sawyer Business School and is currently working on earning a Master’s in Public Policy at Tufts University Graduate School of Arts and Science.
