Healthy Community Design for Healthy Aging – Blended Webinar

Description:
As older people become a greater share of our population, we need take their needs more seriously in the planning and design of our communities. This blended webinar training will highlight key factors of the built environment that can facilitate or impede healthy aging. It will present implementable planning tools that public health workers should be aware of so they can effectively participate in community planning. This will be done through highlighting changes and updates to the Massachusetts Healthy Community Design Toolkit.

Learning Objectives:
Participants completing this training will be able to

  1. Explain how healthy aging is related to healthy community design
  2. Identify barriers to healthy aging in the built environment
  3. Understand the basic regulatory structure that controls community planning and design
  4. Identify key planning tools for facilitating healthy aging
