Each session will feature a keynote speaker and workshops led by representatives of the focus population and frontline service providers within Boston. Each session is designed to include the following:
· Cultural identity norms
· Census data, both national and local
· Risk factors
· Barriers
· Local champions and role models
· Resource mapping
· Tool kit
This four hour session is designed to get participants to engage in a deeper conversation about our young men of color. This session will examine the most common statistics of disparities but will also take a look at root causes not often addressed in training sessions. Topics will include fatherless sons, young men behind bars, the miseducation of young men of color and more. This session will also discuss working with our young men from an asset based approach and explore best practices both locally and nationally.
