Topics: Understanding how to advance your organizational goals through a well-planned communication strategy that defines communication goals, audiences, and objectives, as well as how to develop messaging informed by strategy.  

Online (3 hours)

Description: The foundation of effective communications is a well-considered strategy that centers your organizational goals. This training will focus on providing attendees with a clear understanding of how to develop communication goals that advance their organizational goals, and how to define their audiences and communication objectives. Attendees will also learn about creating and applying messaging across potential formats and channels.  

Audience: Public health professionals, non-profit professionals, community-based organizations

Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to:

  1. Create a strong communication strategy by:  
    1. Understanding the importance of clearly defining their overall organizational goal  
    2. Defining communication goals to advance organizational goals  
    3. Defining their audiences and communication objectives  
  2. Develop and apply messaging by:
    1. Creating key messages and support statements  
    2. Identifying potential communication channels and formats
