In this free webinar, Dr. Koinis Mitchell will review the following:
- Project NAPS: Nocturnal Asthma and Performance in School, findings from her recent research from a 5-year NIH-funded study to assess asthma, sleep and academic performance over the school calendar year in urban children from Latino, African American and Non-Latino White backgrounds. Specifically, the important role of asthma and its impact on sleep disruption and school functioning in elementary-aged children will be discussed;
- A school-based program of the Community Asthma Program (CAP) of Hasbro Children’s Hospital, RI, including evaluation results. CAP provides asthma educational services to over 1,000 children and families throughout RI each year, including in-school and after-school workshops; and
- Project CASE: Controlling Asthma in Schools Effectively, a multi-level pilot project to enhance asthma control, conducted in collaboration with the RI Asthma Control Program of the Department of Health
