Building Age-Friendly Communities: The Summit

March 18, 2015 @ 4:00 am - March 19, 2015 @ 3:59 am

Presented by Tufts Health Plan Foundation and the Boston Foundation:

Building age-friendly communities is essential for our society to respond to the needs of a rapidly aging population. Thought leaders will discuss how using the World Health Organization’s standards for age-friendly cities can make a difference to community health, housing, transportation and the sundry needs facing people today. Participants will also hear from respondents, experts, and attendees regarding their use of data and resources, and how they are mobilizing partner coalitions to transform communities and become age-friendly.

Attendees at the Summit will also be the first to hear from the University of Massachusetts Boston’s Gerontology Institute about updates to the Massachusetts Healthy Aging Data Report, a resource for cities and towns across the state to better understand their communities and the older adults who live there.

Moderator: Ina Jaffe, National Correspondent on Aging, National Public Radio
