Description: Conflict is natural and inevitable in community and justice work. This training aims to help participants identify and practice the best strategies to assert boundaries and communicate effectively when dealing with conflict. Part of managing friction or heightened events can also include de-escalation, which reduces the size or scope of an issue. Participants will be introduced to the basics of de-escalation strategies, such as verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, offering a variety of options to solve problems, and communicate. Trainers will offer a variety of hands-on activities, including large- and small-group discussions, role-playing, and group brainstorming.
