Topics: Strategic planning
Description:There are current opportunities through the Affordable Care Act, IRS Guidelines, and public health accreditation that provide hospitals, health departments, and federally qualified health centers to conduct health improvement planning processes at the state, regional, and/or municipal level. Additionally, with limited resources – in terms of funding and time – and the need for data driven approaches and benchmarks to assess impact; agencies, organizations, and coalitions are utilizing strategic planning processes to fully engage board members, staff, and where appropriate community leaders to chart their future direction. These processes include visioning, mission statement development, data collection and analysis, identifying priorities, developing goals, strategies, measurable objectives, and defining outcomes and metrics to assess the impact of interventions that may improve population health. This workshop will provide participants with an overview of strategic planning approaches as well as provide participants with detailed information and resources to effectively carry out each step of an effective strategic planning process. This training will be interactive and provide participants with the opportunity to share “real world” examples/learning from the field.
