Build Skills in Quality Improvement and Sustainability

Coalition Quality Improvement

Thursday, October 26, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Assumption College, Worcester, MA

Training has concluded

Description: Effective coalitions often use Quality Improvement (QI) strategies to build their initiatives, implement their ideas, evaluate their success, and continuously improve their work. The Model for Improvement and its Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) methodology offers coalitions an approach to organize multi-sector efforts focused around a specific aim, to develop interventions to meet that aim, and to test those interventions through multiple rapid cycle changes. This in-person training will build off last year’s introductory webinar to allow participants to reflect on their work and start to apply the PDSA principles to plan for QI efforts in small groups. The trainer will walk participants through various QI tools and demonstrate how coalitions can use this data to jumpstart improvement efforts.
Audience: Coalition leaders, individuals, and partners who want to work effectively and collaboratively towards community health goals.

Featuring an “Ask the Experts” round table discussion with guest coalitions Healthy Greater Worcester and Franklin County’s Communities That Care

Description: Sustainability is a key component of any successful project. It is the continued, consistent implementation of effective prevention policies, strategies, and practices. Ideally, sustainability is a part of any planning process or program from the very beginning, adaptable to changes in funding, leadership and community structure. But how is sustainability achieved, particularly in an unpredictable and changing landscape? It is an uncertain time and even more essential now for coalitions committed to population health to be innovative, flexible, and nimble while still promoting their core mission. During this training, participants will be introduced to the many facets of sustainability including identifying community assets, sustaining strategies & outcomes, and coalition infrastructure.
